POTD 1/22 - 1/29

Jan 22: What a motley crew... ready for winter camping & the Klondike Derby. The only problem? It RAINED & RAINED & RAINED. What happened to winter in Minnesota? Oh well, they had fun which is the important part.

Jan 23: Picture from our living room window. A dreary day for sure. They're busy building another building right next to us.

Jan 24: John gave a talk in Church today on "An Attitude of Gratitude". He did an AMAZING job.

Jan 25: Ben being goofy... you'd have to see it to truly understand.

Jan 26: Hmmm, what to say?

Jan 27: My first every hybrid project. It turned out so CUTE!!! I had a free template I downloaded & used the mailbox from the $1 spot at Target.

Jan 28: I don't know if I want to explain this picture...

Jan 29: Lego's are the toy of choice today...

POTD 1/16 - 1/21

We have been sick around here. It started on Friday when I got a call from the school that Ben had thrown up & even though school was over he couldn't ride the bus home. He was miserable -and after him I got it - I barely made it home from work on Monday & then went straight to bed. Now John is sharing in the joy & I'm hoping that we are all healthy soon. Thus lots of staying home & not doing much as you can see from the pictures :)

Jan 16: Zelda was the game of choice on the Wii today.

Jan 17: Back to the Wii - we are determined to complete Super Mario Bros as a family. After world 8 is a 'secret' world 9. After working & working & working together we finally completed Land 9-2. J & B were so overjoyed that they jumped up to do a belly slam.

Jan 18: MLK Day - no school for boys, but I got to work (until too sick to deal with it). As I came down the stairs to go to work this was the scene. John asleep on the couch, Ben playing a game on the new iTouch.

Jan 19: After discovering Vince Flynn as an author I've been having fun going back & reading through all the 'Mitch Rapp' novels.

Jan 20: Ben with his Scout Leaders.

Jan 21: John got sick again so back to plain foods. We've been eating a lot of plain potatoes from Wendy's...

POTD 1/11 - 1/15

Jan 11 - Ben built this really cool K'nex roller coaster. When I just downloaded the pictures thought I discovered that the picture he took didn't show the top. He's asleep on the couch (had to pick him up at school sick today) & so I'll do that tomorrow.

Jan 12 - Since moving into our new house I've enjoyed always having a candle burning. As you can see, I'm almost at the end of Vanilla Icing... wonder what will be next? :)

Jan 13 - A wonderful surprise came in the mail today. These gorgeous honeybell oranges. Thank you Amy... you really didn't need to, but we will enjoy them.

Jan 14 - Ben had his 1st band concert. We didn't get great pictures, but he did a great job & has enjoyed learning how to play the trombone.

Jan 15 - On my way to work today - a dreary Minnesota morning, just as I'm preparing to get on the freeway to go downtown.

In other news, the dr. finally figured out what is ailing me. I have extremely low levels of Vitamin D in addition to the low hemoglobin. I had envisioned all sorts of horrible things, but am greatful it's something simple & manageable. Vitamin D & Iron anyone? There is plenty to be found at our house! :)

Anemia cont...

It's funny, now that I realize my hemoglobin is so low I REALLY feel tired :) Tomorrow I have the 'privilege' of having a Colonoscopy. This morning as I was straining soup so I would have some broth for my lunch today I told them I only was able to have liquids - no food. You should have seen the frightened look Ben gave me. Apparently they are all too familiar with my frame of mind when I get overly hungry.

So, being a bit tired & not feeling like doing much I make J & B play our new Wii game that we got for Christmas - Super Mario Bros. We have been having so much fun playing together - well, I have fun & they willingly stop what they are doing to play with me. So last night I asked for 30 minutes of their time. Being the 'obedient' sons that they are they came to play. Well, we are at the final castle & they got so involved in the game that when I said 30 minutes was up - there was no stopping them. "But we have to get past this?" After another 30 minutes we decided Super Bowser would have to wait to be defeated another day.

Picture of the DAy

Last year in the scrapping world - P365 was a big deal. That entailed taking a picture each day that represented your day & the people that accomplished that have all commented on what an amazing record of their year that was. I decided to go ahead & do that this year & will actually use this blog to keep my notes until I can get around to scrapping them. With that... our first 10 days of 2010
Jan 1 - We invited some friends over to play Wii on New Years Eve. As we were playing games & having fun John went to the drawer of CD's & pulled out this CD - cuz they were hippies! We listened for awhile & then our guest said that he didn't know that America sung a specific song. John looked up & said, "America? You mean that's the name of the band?" Oh we all laughed & laughed. He literally thought it was America's (the country) greatest hits.
Jan 2 - Santa brought us a new keyboard this year & Ben has been having a lot of fun learning & experimenting with it.
Jan 3 - Brothers & best friends (depending on the day!)
Jan 4 - Ben was learning about Egypt & made an irrigation system out of Legos.
Jan 5 - John's Science Fair - he made a steam engine

Jan 6 - What John & Ben do best - play computer games.

Jan 7 - One of my many Bullseye dogs at my desk at work. A friend had given this to me for being a 'lifesaver' & helping her with Photoshop.

Jan 8 - Picture to come. A picture of the hospital I spent quality time at. Once again it has appeared that I have anemia & so I had to go in for an Endoscopy to try to figure out why I can't keep all my hemo'goblins' as J & B call them.

Jan 9 - Ben had a fun opportunity to sleep out in an igloo in our Bishop's backyard with the other 11 yr old scouts. It was toasty warm with the new sleeping bag he & John got for Christmas. Was made for winter camping. Good thing - it was -10 that night.

Trust me - it's a cute picture with 9 amazing kids!

Jan 10 - My Primary class. I was released today from being a Primary teacher & Activity Day leader. After being in Primary for so long I will definitely miss all the kids, but will continue to teach until my replacement has been found.

It's been interesting when I originally thought about doing this, I didn't think interesting things occurred on a daily basis. While they aren't all that interesting - they do make up my life & it will be fun to remember.

Still alive... but very cold!

Moving seemed to really overwhelm me and so I've just kind of been plugging along working on getting organized. Many people ask me about getting the house all decorated, but we're just enjoying having so much space. Until you see where we moved from you can't truly appreciate it. While I hate J & B wrestling - at least now they have the floor space to do it, same for Ben's legos & roller coaster building. I've decided to not worry about getting it perfectly fei shung (or whatever), but to keep it so there is lots of room to just live, be it legos or wrestling or reading. While I absolutely love my kitchen I think the biggest change for me is to have privacy & my own bathroom. I've found some fun furniture at an auction site that auctions off model home furniture. When Mom was here, she went to look at some stuff & talked me into this HUGE dresser. While I don't have photos of the whole house... I do have photos of the dresser & my room (for Lorna & Mom)

Lorna came for a few days (thank goodness!) & unpacked every box in my house. Mom stayed for a few weeks & we all enjoyed having her here to help us pull everything together. The boys enjoyed having someone there to make them a snack when they got home from school. She even tried to teach John to dance...

I know Mom is going to hate this picture, but I love how John is just laughing at the whole situation.

My own bedroom - how sweet the words! :)

View from the closet - with a boy on the bed

The new dresser that I got an amazing deal on

Happy Boy? maybe not...

Ben in the living room - with LOTS of floor space. We absolutely are enjoying all the space.

Beyond that... not a lot going on. Hopefully, I'll be updating this more... lots of ideas about how to document the year of 2010... so we'll see what I end up doing.
